I am a proud ‘Oldhamer’ and live locally with my husband and two secondary aged children. I work in education and have taught at a number of secondary schools including two in Oldham. I was educated at the University of Leeds and studied a P.G.C.E. in English and Special Educational Needs.

Whilst working in the Oldham schools I was SENCO and was fortunate enough to work in partnership with POINT on a number of occasions; seeing first hand the invaluable support they give to parents and young people whilst ensuring schools are fulfilling their statutory duties.

I am passionate that education includes not only the studying of the curriculum but just as importantly, life skills and social skills. My vision is that young people can be encouraged to achieve their best within a happy, caring and supportive community and are fully prepared for the next stage of their education and for adulthood- supported as necessary.

Some children need more support than others to gain as much as they can from their education. I feel that my knowledge, skills and experiences over the past 22 years in education as SENCO and now Associate Headteacher, of a secondary school in Salford, will contribute to the magical work of POINT in making a real difference.

I am proud to be a POINT Trustee; a cause I care about. My passion to support young people receive the support they need and to help parents/carers have a voice  motivated me to take action and commit to the values and vision of POINT.
